As four new Enterprise Areas are announced by the Scottish Government, Creative Clyde has been identified as a key site in the new initiative which is designed to support jobs and encourage economic growth.

The four new Enterprise Areas focus on those industries with the greatest potential to create new employment opportunities, stimulate private investment and boost economic growth.

Creative Clyde has been named as part of an Enterprise Area which also incorporates Prestwick International and encompasses both manufacturing and other growth sector opportunities.

Each of the other three Enterprise Areas are sector specific and include Renewable Energy Enterprise Areas in the East and North as well as a Life Sciences Enterprise Area (with sites across Scotland).

Welcoming the announcement, Linda McPherson, Director of Creative Industries at Scottish Enterprise said, "This is fantastic news for the future development of the Creative Clyde project, launched last year as an integral part of our efforts to grow the already significant contribution the creative industries make to the Glasgow and Scottish economy.

We introduced an exciting new masterplan for developing Scottish Enterprise's site at Pacific Quay seven months ago and the news today that this site is included within the new enterprise area is very welcome.  We look forward to working with our partners in Glasgow City Council to further enhance the development proposition for creative industry organisations within Creative Clyde."

With the locations now established the Scottish Government will go on to agree the specific incentives that will be offered to encourage private investment at each of the sites in the Enterprise Areas.
